The dynamical theory of diffraction has witnessed exciting developments since the advent of synchroton radiation. This book provides an up-to-date account of the theory of diffraction and its applications. The first part serves as an introduction to the subject, presenting early developments and the basic results. It is followed by a detailed development of the diffraction and propagation properties of x-rays in perfect crystals and by an extension of the theory to the case of slightly and highly deformed crystals. The last part gives three applications of the theory: X-ray optics for synchroton radiation, locations of atoms at surfaces, and X-ray diffraction topography. The book is richly illustrated and contains a wide range of references to the literature. It will be a most useful reference work for graduate students, lecturers and researchers.

Dynamical theory of X-ray diffraction / SpringerLink ~ This chapter presents the dynamical theory of the diffraction of X-rays by perfect crystals. The most important part is devoted to the case of plane waves (Section 5.1.2). The solutions of the propagation equation of plane waves in crystals are given in Section 5.1.3 using the concept of wavefields introduced by Ewald for X-rays in 1913 and by Bloch for electrons in 1928 (known in solid-state .

Dynamical Theory of X-Ray Diffraction / SpringerLink ~ The kinematical theory of x-ray diffraction, thus far discussed in the previous chapter, is based on assumptions which are only valid for diffraction in small crystals. When diffraction occurs in large and perfect crystals, multiple scattering results. In other words, the crystal lattice is so regular over a large volume that the reflected wave of a reflection must be further reflected back .

Dynamical Theory of X-Ray Diffraction ~ Dynamical Theory of X-Ray Diffraction After Batterman & Cole . 1.1 Introduction The fundamental problem of the dynamical theory of x-ray diffraction as pointed out by von Laue is to solve Maxwell’s equations (classical electromagnetic wave theory) in a medium with a periodic complex dielectric constant (k).This constant is simply the multiplying factor by which capacitance is changed when .
Applications of dynamical theory of X-ray diffraction by ~ The classical dynamical theory of X-ray diffraction is expanded to the special case of transversely restricted wavefronts of the incident and reflected waves. This approach allows one to simulate the two-dimensional coherently scattered intensity distribution centred around a particular reciprocal lattice vector in the so-called triple-crystal diffraction scheme. The effect of the .

Dynamical theory of diffraction - Wikipedia ~ The dynamical theory of diffraction describes the interaction of waves with a regular lattice. The wave fields traditionally described are X-rays, neutrons or electrons and the regular lattice, atomic crystal structures or nanometer scaled multi-layers or self arranged systems. In a wider sense, similar treatment is related to the interaction of light with optical band-gap materials or related .

(IUCr) - Dynamical theory of X-ray diffraction ~ They observed diffraction behavior predicted by dynamical diffraction theory which was fully explained by C. G. Darwin. In fact, Ewald's first theory of dynamical diffraction actually preceded the discovery of X-ray diffraction and, even more remarkably, was an instrument that helped lead to that discovery. This historical oddity arises from P. P. Ewald's PhD thesis of 1912 and points to a .
